Badgerie Menagerie: January

January was full and eventful.
Sewing, and crochet.
Chinese class and high school chemistry.
Snow, ice, rain & mud.
The desert and the ocean.
Planes, robots, and a cute little red car.
Salt Lake City and Seattle.
Ups and downs.
Friends near and far.
And much, much coffee!

Starting off the new year right!
Coffee & mama friends, a delight.

Time to go back to Seattle to visit Gong-gong in his convalescence.
SLC->SEA

Relatively smooth travel.

Landing.

In Seattle at Gong-gong's house...
Messing around in our messaging to sisters.
This is how we keep connected.

Gong-gong.

A snow day?
We didn't see any snow.
What-the-what?
The moment we stepped outside - that leathery slick stuff was covering every possible surface!
Rain ice!
Once we can crack open the ice, its off we go around town.

To Gong-gong's house where we stop to have lunch, and try to find a few things to organize.
For the most part the tough jobs are done...

So coffee.

And in the evening...
more Paint-by-numbers

And mini-bricks.

***

Gong-gong's pretty red car is on the outs.
Dead battery.

Trying the trickle charger.

***

Meanwhile, more road schooling.

***

Gong-gong and a visit with a physical therapist.

Gong-gong is always giving out treats...

***

What's cookin'?

***

Another morning.
Picking up some tasty pastries.

And visiting a friend, while in town.

Tree house!

***

More time with Gong-gong.

***

The trickle charge didn't work.
It was a really, really dead battery.
So I finally called AAA.
They were amazing.
Got a new battery installed on site.
Gong-gong's little red car was again good to go!

***

More homework, road-schooling.

And cleaning.
Or attempting to, his house.

***

Out to coffee.

The paint-by-numbers is coming along.

Daiso is very cool.

***

Finished a crochet snail that I had started during last month's visit to Seattle.

***

Games.
<3

***

Every time the going got a little tough, she'd suggest that we go visit our favorite toy store in town...
Because it would cheer me up.
And because we had to visit the stuffies.

We even had to get these two...

*****

Side trip!

Almost forgot...

How incredibly muddy it can get on trails, here.

The Puget Sound
<3

I love ferries!

All this to visit
Bruun Idun!

She played for them the orca song, to ask them where they all had gone.

Another visit to Gong-gong at his facility.
In the room with the seniors.
Doing morning exercises.

Homeschool Drawing Group!
It has been on my bucket list for a while now to meet homeschoolers in the PNW.

Lovely bunch!

*****

Homework assignment for his class:
Light drawing!

After much experimentation, and playing with the timing of the shutter speed, they finally got their desired results.

Crying ghost.

Ghost.

The space needle with the sun and the mountains.
Such a fun assignment!

***

Another day...
Another cuppa.

***

Off to visit Gong-gong again.

He has amazing friends.

Auntie Jess.

Gong-gong, looking mischevious.

***

More fun in the kitchen.
Poppin Cookin

Attempt two at microwave potato chips!

Perfected!

Mostly finished my paint-by-numbers.

Morning of our flight...

Sea-Tac Airport.

Home again, home again.
Jiggity, jig.
Gratitude.

*****

Meanwhile...
I have to hit the ground running.
The robot-ing here at home has really started to gear-up.

Scrimmage day.

Miss 2's team are the champions at this scrimmage meet.
(Don't have final pictures - I went home early - travel cold knocked me out.)

*****

Next day Miss 3 has Chinese dance class.

*****

More robot tinkering.

*****

Finished my second snail.

Fondly oggling my crochet pig that I got in December.
This was one of the many self-designed one-of-a-kind patterns by Miss 2.

More robot-ing

A bread-Monday
An invitation to make with dough.

Yum.

More fun with chemistry.
Discussing the concept of LD50 - the lethal dose of various substances
& visualizing the amount of sugar contained in various drinks.

Finally got this paint-by-numbers home and mounted!
