August/September!
What an end of summer.
Pour me some more coffee please.
Much making of sweets, rollerblading, shadow puppet theatre, running around town, Badger-Olympics, the last bit of summer swimming and summer snow cones, friends, Sharknado cake, and back to school and dance!

Badger Home Evening.
Sharknado night.

Miss 2 and I were trying to make a roll cake with a shark design.

They were significantly running sharks.
This was in large part because we were attempting to make the recipe GF.

Back story:
The sharknado is coming!
For each of the kids their mission: build a sturdy shelter to protect from the coming storm.
It must fit all 5 of us and and it must connect to the other shelters, so that we can traverse between them.
It's a progressive dinner!
30 minutes build time.
The result.

Progressive dinner stage one:
At Miss 1's house.
The main.

Progressive dinner stage two:
At Miss 2's house.
The dessert.

The completed roll cake!

It ended up looking more like koi, than like sharks.

*****

Miss 3 has a performance for the Dragon Boat Festival.
It was observed "celebrated" at Daybreak, out here in Utah.

Rehearsal.
As would be "reasonable" the stage managers forbid dancers from marking their dance on the stage during rehearsal, but have no problem letting rando people climb up the back stairs during performance to photograph with dancers.

The dragon.

There along with a few other Asians to help bravely represent.

*****

Time to decorate this cake.

Our first attempt at a piped frosting decoration of cake.
Used very janky-Duncan Hines stuff straight out of the tub, with some food coloring.
Not please with the stiffness of the decorations.  It was an interesting experiment.
We will be revisiting piped frosting again.

Speaking of decoration.
