Camping into the New Year!
And we are off!
Grey skies.
Parked.
Getting out the toys!
Setting up camp.
Bringing in the firewood.
***
Winter in the desert.
The river is partially frozen over.
***
A walk up to our initial RC airplane takeoff site.
Catch me if you can!
Along for the flight!
Miss 2's first kit built RC airplane.
Pre-flight talk.
First flights by Dada.
Miss 2 gets her first RC airplane flight!
Erik has set it up so that they have chained controllers, so that he can easily take over, should the need arise.
Everything going smoothly!

Meanwhile littlest Miss is digging in the soil...
For kicks, they decide to give one of the cookies a ride in the open cockpit...
After flight...
Littlest Miss proclaims the flown cookies taste even better.
Miss has brought me a gift...
Tagged onto its spikes: To Mama
First nights dinner: lovely leftovers rewarmed.
Dinner and a show!
Later in the evening, these two really dig into a graphic novel.

Good morning!
It's a slow morning.
Outside is cold.
Inside, we have a mini-Nintendo emulator, with Super Mario & many more games!
The view towards the other end of our cozy cabin on 4x4 wheels.
Still a little chill outside.
Decided to finally break open an art kit that I'd been holding onto.
There's painting, clay-play, cutting, and marble-painting galore.
Oh and the dinos are ever present.
<3
Roar!!!
My favorite dino-fashion.
It's time to take a walk and try out the new drone!
This Miss is in a grumpy mood.
Setting up.
The area is blissfully clear of obstructions...
Great place to practice flying and drone photography.
Dada's turn.
Miss 2's turn.
Lunch cheese plate?
Why yes, thank you Miss 1.
Campfire time.
See the dino on my sweater?
The dino is roasting my marshmallow for me.

A walk along the river with my <3.
The river bend...
And just as we had hoped for, it is beginning to snow.
It's a beautiful light dusting at first...
Highlighting the ridges with white and blanketing the peaks with wisps of cloud.
***
Back to the van and the fire is still roasting.
Miss 3's pants are covered in the rusty red clay that won't let go of your clothes.
They can't get enough of this graphic novel.
I actually had the time to read it also.
It's pretty good.
Good night.
***
Good morning.
"Not" stealing your Cheerios.
Last night's snow accumulation.
Pretty!
Out carving a stick.
She is on a mission.
***
Out for another set of flights with her RC airplane.
***
Love me my sis.
More hovering with the new drone.
Miss 1 gives it a try.
The river is more frozen.
For me?
Miss 3 carved a little canoe.
Let's take it to the river.
Down.
Down to the river.
Into the river it goes.
It floats!
Take it out...
Now to head home.
But first, let's try the long way...
By crossing the river...
And walking along the river.
Back to the other side...
Hmmm, not completely frozen.
Back up the bank.
And to the van.
New evening, new fire.
And a chance to burn off some stuff.
Tree.
Tree with flowers.
Taking off boots has gotten to increasingly messy, the soggy weather made for sticky clay.
The red clay is getting everywhere and it is hard to keep it from tracking in.
Camp fire.

Next morning.
The cactus gift has made it into a bowl with dirt.
Got up super early, have to make it into town early.
It took us 40 minutes from up to driving!
Not bad.
<3
Made it into town early.
Yay!
So we make a stop for coffee.
***
Back home with this one.
***
One last gingerbread kit for the season.
Miss 2 completed her miniature kit!
Coffee shop is open.
Complete with miniature plants.
So cool!
